Adria Drift Series 2016 RD1: THE KICK OFF Results

The first event of the Adria Drift Series season, the RD1 – THE KICK OFF, was held on 24. April at ORYX Centar in Zagreb, the well known drift location. Competitors started the drift in a fast left turn which closes at the end, followed by the right, even more closed one, which continues in the double S. As we expected the battles among 26 drifters from Austria, BiH, Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia were very tight. Unfortunately only 19 cars made it to the qualifications.

The qualification runs itself were already very tense and interesting to watch. With a lot of smoke and some broken bumpers Tabak, Berdajs, Pavičić and Kauderer announced their apetites for the top positions in the race. Also some rookies that ranked in TOP16 are worth to mention. Pavičić Sr. and Barle might become very dangerous towards the end of the season, when they get some more experiences! Also Stanić's enthusiasm was rewarded with a huge applause.

The above mentioned four favorites met in the semi finals. Although Tabak was drifting perfectly troughout all the twin battles, he donated the pass to the finals to Pavičić, as he hit the clipping point. The other two, Berdajs and Kauderer, continued their battle from the last season's finals, where Kauderer's Toyota broke... After »one more time«, Berdajs was a bit better and went to finals. Although Berdajs compensated the lack of the power with precision and well tuned chassis, Pavičić (for the first time) fully used the potencial of the car and took home the biggest trophy.

»Watching the final battles made my day, once again proving that we really have some great drivers in Adria region, driving on the line, pushing hard one another all the way to the finish line. All in all, I can say the event was successful from the organization point of view, hope that next time weather will serve and bring in some more drifting fans,« said Drey, the General Manager of the Adria Drift Series.

Also, visitors in need of adrenaline rush had the opportunity to ride with one of the greatest masters of drifting in this part of Europe –Luka Marko Grošelj. In the Drift Taxi they colud scream as loud as they wanted and still be overheared by the grinding tyres.

Moreover, we also have to mention some great cars from the Show'n'Shine area. Among polished beauties whose tuning investments exceed the value of the car itself, the judges gave the most credit to Karlo's wild General Lee themed Opel Corsa and Jurica's OEM styled Caddy.

Round 1: THE KICK OFF event results

The next event of the Adria Drift Series, RD2 – THROWDOWN, will be held on 29. May at Krško's Raceland.
