Adria Drift Series 2016 RD2 THROWDOWN Results

Over 1.000 fans experienced the action and excitement at the Raceland track with the drift battles, Show’n’Shine, RC drifters and the full show program. There was 21 drift competitors from Slovenia, Croatia, Austria and Hungary. In Adria Drift RC series there was also international participation as well.  During battles on both tracks visitors could also admire more than 60 modified cars that were shining and competing for the Show’n’Shine awards.

After the warm-up karting battles the drivers enjoyed the evening before the race, most of them couldn't wait to show their skills on that same track – but going sideways.

As this kind of motorsport is very demandig for the cars, there were some failures expected during the event. Blaž Podboršek had some troubles with leaking and Igor Tabak's gearbox broke already in the practice runs. At that moment General manager of the Series Drey surprised the competitors, visitors and also the organization team with his decision to lend his Nissan S14, which supposed to be the backup car for the Drift Taxi, to Igor for the race. We can only applaude to that.

The qualifications went very well for the most of the competitors. Bruno Stergar even made his »personal best« as qualifing to the 4th place. »The woman of the race«, Anke Klein, also qualified to the TOP16, but was unfortunately eliminated by her fellow countryman Klemens Kauderer in the first twin battle. Kauderer was then eliminated in the TOP8 battles by Matjaž Podboršek, who for the first time in his career made it to the podium (third place). The second place won Uroš Berdajs, who also won the prize for "Avto-Magazin moment of  the race", and the winner of the RD2 of the Adria Drift Series was Hungarian driver Ferenc Cserép. As in RD1 "The rookie of the race" was Robi Barle, who actually did extremely well an made it to the 4th place!

»It’s always nice to come to the Raceland track, especially because of its beautiful infrastructure and the crowd can easily enjoy the whole event. Of course the main thing of the day were again tight drift battles and we are very satisfied with the whole event,«  said Drey, General Manager of the Adria Drift Series. »Unfortunately, at the end the officials had to approach with some penalties and we’ll try to make sure non off those will be needed again,« he added.
