The most anticipated race of the Adria Drift Series 2016 is over. Many drivers were skeptic when they took a walk through the course, but at the end enjoyed massively!
24 drivers of 27 from Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary made it to the qualifications. Already at that time it was obvious, that some of the local drifters might be very dangerous. Four of them made it to the TOP 16.
We were all surprised by last year's vice-champion (and local drift matador) Ivo Znaors' last minute application. As he told us, he bought the car just for this race and was delivered just the day before the event. He managed to solve most of the technical problems and made it to the TOP16, but was eliminated at the first twin battle by Igor Tabak. Tabak then eliminated Jure Poljak and made it to the Final Four along with Karlo Pavičić, Bruno Stergar and Peter Karai. Tough battles with “One
more times”, extremely hot cars… and hot heads were extremely interesting to watch. Unfortunately, we only saw one run in the finals as the axle on the Stergars’ BMW broke which ment Tabak won the Round 3 of Adria Drift Series. True drift spirit was then shown by both competitors as they went to the track in Tabaks’ car waved to the audience and burned some tire thread! In the battle for the third place, Pavičić made terminal mistake in the first run of “one more time” as he hit the barriers
and gave away the victory to Karai. Pavičić also “kissed the wall” and for that won The moment of the Race Award. Again, Rokie of the Race was Robi Barle.
"The first ever indoor drift competition in this part of Europe came to a conclusion and I'm really happy that we brought Adria Drift Series into a such a beautiful city as Split is, especially in this time of the year," said Drey, General Manager of the Adria Drift Series. ". It was really one of the toughest events that we have ever organized and we also see a huge improvement for the next year. I was really amazed by the atmosphere in the crowd, especially of their huge support to the
local drivers," he added.
The Visitors could also take a walk to the hot (in both meanings) Show’n’Shine area where some great cars were exhibited. They could also admire masters of radio-controlled drift cars in the base floor of the Arena.
Round 3: The Arena event results
The next event of the Adria Drift Series, RD4 – METRO CITY, will be held on 4. September at Belgrade [SRB].
